Mjølkevegen: Vaset - Stølsvidda - Golsfjellet (35 km)
Vaset - Storefjell (approx. 35 km)
This section of Mjølkevegen is the most family-friendly and suitable for anyone who likes riding bikes. The plateau between Vaset, Stølsvidda and Golsfjellet is unique and perhaps the most beautiful cycling area in Norway with countless hiking possibilities. The route is undulating with nice gravel roads and paths, and great views towards both Jotunheimen and Hemsedalsfjella. It is easy to combine cycling along the section of Mjølkevegen with other activities like hiking, fishing or swimming. The route passes through active farming areas where farm animals graze freely, and it is more than likely that you will see animals grazing along the road during your trip. Langestølen Kolonial and Café is a popular stop located along Tisleivegen. Here you can enjoy Norwegian porridge and waffles made in the traditional way.
Gomobu Mountain Lodge and Vasetstølen Cabins are the recommended accommodations at Vaset. In addition, we recommend that you stop at Storefjell Resort Hotel on Golsfjellet. All of the above accommodations are great starting points for many nice cycling trips. The hosts at all of these accommodations are looking forward to welcome Mjølkevegen cyclists.
This section of Mjølkevegen can be cycled in both directions or as a roundtrip for those who arrive with their own transportation.
