The oldest human settlements in Valdres are approximately 8000 years old. There are findings from the Stone Age, Bronze Age, the Earlier and Later Ion Age and the Middle Ages until today.
In Valdres you can visit 6 of the 28 preserved Stave churches in Norway: Hedalen, Reinli, Hegge, Lomen, Høre and Øye, as well as two Middle Age stone churches in Slidre and Ulnes (from 1265) and Mo church ruin from ca. 1215 in Vestre Slidre.
