Sports events are important in Valdres and many of them have given the region national and international focus in the media, such as the cross-country skiing season opening, Beitosprinten, the Norwegian Mountain Marathon and Ridderrennet, the worlds largest annual winter sports week for people who are visual impaired and disabled.
Valdresrittet (bicycle race) and Valdresmarsjen (cross-country skiing) are other popular sports events with an increasing number of participants every year.
