Are you starting your ride along Mjølkevegen any day soon or maybe already on the route?
Here we publish updates on the route standard and inform about road works and other current matters that cyclists along Mjølkevegen should be aware of. The route leads on mainly private roads through varied and partly remote high country and summer farm areas, and there can be road works or other factors that may cause longer detours.
We recommend that you visit these pages before you head out to avoid unpleasant surprises and appreciate feed back from you that may be important for other cyclists as critical information not always reaches us. There might also be fallen or missing signposts at critical points.
Thank you and have a great ride!
_______________
Stretch Oset-Furuset
Through 2026: The dam over the outflow of Lake Tisleifjorden is under rehabilitation, and as long as the construction works carry out cyclists must use the road beneath the dam to cross over. Signs before and after the dam may be missing.
Stretch Olstappen-Ruten Fjellstue
Until approx. 1 July 2026: The bridge over the Espa River is under water and being repaired. Bicycles cannot pass. The detour is either on the country road via Skåbu (which involves many extra hight meters) or via Kvamfoss on a tractor road (green route; purple is the marked route that is impassable at the moment):

Stretch Slangen-Lemonsjø
Until further notice:
- The signpost at the exit from Heidalsvegen into a forest track towards Randsverk Camping is missing.
- After logging in this area you may encounter deep prints after the machineries' tires on the track and over a clearing.
Stretch Vaset-Fagernes for those who enter/exit the route that way:
Through summer and autumn 2026: Panoramavegen is closed at Hippesbygde due to construction work on the bridge. Bicycles cannot pass. The detour is from Vaset to Røn (follow the road signs) and from there on the country road on the western side of the water course to Ulnes.
