About
The Fløafjorden cycling tour is a nice and easy family-friendly trip. A short detour leads to the farm Noraker Gård with farm shop and café.
Difficulty: easy; recommended for families
Distance: 22,5 km
Elevation gain: 242 m
Directions:
From Fagernes, cycle on the sidewalk along Lake Strandefjorden to Leira. At the roundabout, turn right on road 51 towards Gol and then left in the next roundabout approx. 50 m further ahead. After having passed the Elkjøp-/Kiwi building, turn right onto the gravel road which leads downhill through the forest and keep straight ahead towards Lake Fløafjorden where there is a nice place for a rest. Continue on a trail alongside the lake. At the southern end of Fløafjorden the trail improves to a forest track, and you reach a crossing. Keep straight ahead here. You get to the next lake, Øvstevatnet, and at its end, at Vikan, turn left. Here the signage is poor, so you need to pay attention to the map. Keep going uphill untill you reach the old Valdres railroad, which is now a cycling path. Follow it to the left back to Leira and Fagernes.
For a short (approx. 750 m per way) detour to the fish farm Noraker with farm shop and café, turn right when you reach the Valdres railroad cycling path, towards Aurdal. There’s a staircase from the cycling path up to the farm shop and café.
This round-trip also can be accomplished from Leira, making it 10 km with approx. 190 m elevation gain.
