The Bruflat−Tonsåsen stretch of the historic Kings Road, that led from Oslo to Bergen, is a nice one-day hike. Park your car in the center of Bruflat. (If possible, drive two cars and park one by the Tonsbakken, along road 33, where the route ends up). It is possible to take a bus from Tonsbakken to Tonsåsen (Innlandstrafikk, several times a day, check the time table in advance), but from Tonsåsen you would have to walk along the road back to Bruflat (+3.5 km).
From Bruflat, follow the road towards Fjellsbygde. The path continues uphill, and crosses the road a few times, before you pass by the old Breie power station. From there the path leads into the forest. There are several information boards along the route. The hike ends where the Kings Road meets road 33 at Tonsbakken.
You can also take public bus transportation from Tonsbakken til Tonsåsen, and walk the last section along the road back to Bruflat. Remember to check the bus schedule ahead of time
