Welcome to the historical farm Bergatn, which is a National war memorial. Dramatic events took place on this farm in April 1940. Germans who had taken the farm and captured 25 civilians were attacked and defeated by Norwegian soldiers, while the civilians were confined in their homes. Only one of the civilians was killed. His Majesty King Olav V inaugurated the farm as a national war memorial in 1986.
Follow E16 to Bagn and exit into Bagn and go straight through the village until you reach the old E16. Turn left and drive uphill past the first sharp righthand bend. Turn right onto the old road (look for a war memorial sign). Park a few meters after the exit of the road at the old road (limited parking options).
Bagnsbergatn is a summer walk. Follow the dirt road up to the signposted path to the right. The trail is partly marked and passes through the Gråbeinhølet, where there were combat actions in 1940 during World War II. Information boards along the way tell about the events. If desired, a guide can be ordered by Bagn Bygdesamling during the summer season.
