Panoramic cross-country skiing tour in groomed tracks from the winter holidays to Easter. Take the skilift (single journey) to the top of the alpine slopes at Beitostølen and enjoy a phantastic view towards the mountain Bitihorn and the Jotunheimen massif while skiing in groomed tracks to Bygdin. Enjoy a hot beverage or a beer and something good to eat before you take the bus back to Beitostølen. 

Transport:
The bus service by Valdresekspressen from Bygdin to Beitostølen (choose Bygdin, Vang, Innlandet and Beitostølen, Øystre Slidre, Oppland as departure and destination points in the online ticket service).  
Bygdin Høifieldshotell has its own minibus for guests of the ski café. You can find the time table on the hotel's website. 

The ski café is open daily from 18. Feburary until 28. april 2024 between 11am and 4.30pm.

From the top of the alpine slope at på Beitostølen via Red 1, Red 2 and Red 10 to Bygdin Høifieldshotel.
Distance: 13.2 km
Elevation difference: 266 m up and 240 m down
Estimated duration: Approx. 2.5 hours under good track conditions without breaks

Directions and tour description 
Take the express lift (single ticket) to the top of the alpine slope and cross over to the cross-country skiing track Blue 1. Follow it to the left/north for about 1.5 km, and you will meet track Red 1. Continue in Red 1 past Grønekinnkampen, then fairly steep downhill into Oledalen valley and up again on the other side, past Lake Gravolstjednet and downhill again towards the shore of Lake Vinstre to the crossing with Red 2. Turn left and follow Red 2 for 5 km along the southern shoreline to the crossing with Red 10 and Red 10 for the last 2.7 km to Bygdin Høifieldshotel. Here you can enjoy a good meal and a beer in the great mountain nature before taking the bus back to Beitostølen; either Bygdin's own mini bus or Valdresekspressen.  

This tour will provide great vistas in phantastic high mountain terrain without being too difficult, but it can be exposed for strong winds. Carry a day pack with extra clothing, a warm beverage in a thermos bottle and extra food/chocolate in case the weather turns or the conditions are tough and you use more time than estimated.  

We suggest that you purchase the cross-country skiing map for Beitostølen that is available at the tourist office and sports stores.
