From the E16, exit by the Ulnes church and follow the signs to Panoramavegen and Vaset (toll road). Continue on the same road in the direction of Nøsen and by the containers, a few hundred meters before you reach Nøsen Fjellhotell, turn right onto Jaslangvegen. Follow it for approx. 4 km until you reach a road crossing at Buaråne. Turn left onto Grunkevegen, pass the bridge and continue for another 2.5 km towards Bukono/Grunke. Park at at a gravel pit at the designated trail head.
In the start the trail is fairly steep before the terrain evens out a bit more on Bukonofjellet, yet it is uphill all the way. Between approx. 1200 and 1350 m.a.s.l. there are some sheep tracks that may make it difficult to stay on the right path. Just keep going upwards and stay in the direction northwest until you find the trail again and finally see the cairn on the top of Gråkampen. The upper parts are rocky, and you may find several animal traps (rock pits).
To the right of the path (when walking uphill) there is a cave called “Hulabakkhula”. It is situated at the top of a steep and narrow snow field, at an altitude of 1320 m.s.l., approx. 700-800 m away from the path, easily accessible on a rock gallery above the snow field. Bring torches if you want to explore the cave.
