The cycling tour along Bygdisvegen suits families with small children, beginners and everyone looking for a short and easy cycling tour in the high mountains along the shoreline of Lake Bygdin.

Distance: approx. 6 km return
Elevation gain: approx. 60 meters

From Beitostolen, drive north along road 51 to Bygdin. After you have passed Bygdin Høifjeldshotel and crossed the outflow of Lake Bygdin on the bridge, turn left onto Bygdisheimvegen and find a place to park your car at Bygdinstøgo or Fagerstrand (both against fee). 
From there, follow the gravel road along Lake Bygdin west for approx. 3 km until the road ends, and return on the same way. The scenery in this area is truely breathtaking!

Tips:
* Enjoy a good cup of coffee and a bite to eat at Bygdin Høifieldshotel.
* The cycling tour can be combined with hikes into the Fagerdalen Valley, Synshorn or Bitihorn, fishing in Lake Rjupetjednet or a boat trip with the historical M/B Bitihorn on Lake Bygdin.
* If you want a more challenging route, start cycling from Beitostølen (+ 12.5 km and an elevation gain of approx. 320 m per way). However, due to the traffic on road 51, this is not recommended for children.
