Valdres is a region of warm communities among high mountains, green valleys, fresh air and clear waterways. We are people and livestock, permanent residents, cabin dwellers and travelers. Valdres is a safe and good place to grow up and live, but also a great travel destination.

What is a "park"?
Valdres consists of six municipalities that cooperate in a nature and culture park. In this context, the term "park" has nothing to do with picket fences, fountains, climbing frames or protected areas.
It is a local management model that both preserves and develops the region in line with our unique natural and cultural values. A way of cooperation that includes politicians and residents, cultural institutions and business networks, tourism and cabin owners. We believe that Valdres remains a good place to live and visit this way.
Regional parks in Norway are designed to foster cooperation in preserving and enhancing natural and cultural values within specific landscape and identity regions. These parks focus on rural development, landscape management, sustainable tourism and heritage interpretation.
