The oldest human settlements in Valdres are approximately 8000 years old and are located in the Western regions. There are finds from the Stone Age, Bronze Age, the old and new Iron Age and the Middle Ages until today. In Valdres you can visit 6 of the 28 stave churches in Norway as well as two Middle Age stone churches.
