The varied landscape in Valdres is perfect for cycling entusiasts of all ages. Combine cycling with hiking, fishing, a visit to an open summer farm, experience the traditional food and visit unique cultural sites.

The Valdres Bicycle Guide (free) is a useful tool when planning your trip. It contains more than 20 route suggestions throughout the region, of different lenghts and levels. A nice and relaxing way of getting to the heart of Jotunheimen is by boat. There is a passenger boat that takes you over Lake Bygdin to Bygdin, Torfinnsbu and Eidsbugarden – all excellent starting points for your mountain adventure. You can even bring your bike.

From the hilly woodlands of Begnadalen and Vassfaret in the South, to the snowcapped mountains of Jotunheimen in the North – Valdres can offer some of the most rewarding hiking in FjellNorway.

If you should wonder where to travel with children, give Valdres a try. There are great opportunities for cycling with child carriage. Many walking routes are perfectly suitable for baby carriers, and some of them even the smallest feet can manage themselves.

Nowhere else in Northern Europe you find as many operative summer mountain farms as in Valdres. Altogether 300 summer farms and pastures with cattle, calves, chickens, sheep, goats and their dairymaids contribute to an even greater experience of the beautiful mountain landscape.
